Thank you for choosing me as your trusted photographer to capture your business head shots.
The session takes place in my studio or at your offices.
I take various different images for the purpose of showcasing you and your business and have many years experience in creating the very best head shots to represent you in your industry. Your outfit choice and styling is extremely important in these sessions; they help represent your personality and more importantly, your professional image (guidance noted below).

Clothing Recommendations (for men):
“What is your audience?” If you are looking for a job in management, you should consider opting for a jacket in your photo. Whether or not you wear a tie will also depend on your audience.
I recommend staying away from huge patterns in your tie and shirt. Solid shirts with a small patterned tie look very sharp. Make your statement with your colours rather than patterns. Ensure everything looks clean and freshly-pressed, so you look “sharp”.
Newer shirts that aren’t faded and don’t have frayed/curled up edges on the collars are a must. If your wardrobe looks tired, so will you.
For your jacket, medium grey and blue work very well. Black or navy can work, but the detail of the jacket will be very dark in the final photo. Try to coordinate the width of your tie with the width of the lapels. For example, if you are wearing a modern, narrow lapel jacket, go with a narrower tie. If your lapels are more traditional, then do not wear a skinny tie. The best knot for most ties is a Windsor knot.
A Shirt With No Jacket
If you aren’t wearing a jacket, I recommend wearing a collared, button-up shirt. It draws less attention to the neck and helps frame your face. Dress shirts work better than polo shirts and solid coloured shirts work best when you aren’t wearing a jacket. It’s also best to avoid solid black and solid white.
Bring three or four options for the shoot. This gives us the ability to coordinate an overall look based on the background options.
Clothing Recommendations (for women):
Colours
Consider wearing medium to dark colours and tones for more contrast. For my grey backdrop, light or vivid colours (such as red) work really well. I recommend avoiding white clothing as the eye is drawn to the lightest areas in the photo.
I can use both white and grey backdrop, should you require both, although I often find the grey backdrop to be the most popular choice and is a timeless option.
Jacket/Blazer
You may opt for a more formal look with a suit or blazer. Since the focus is on the upper body, take careful consideration for the fit and colour.
Add a little pop of colour by picking a collarless blouse or camisole with some delicate jewellery or crew neck, but try to avoid big patterns that can be distracting in the final image.
Dresses
Often a dress possesses a great colour or fabric texture that translates well. Heavier fabrics can look very nice. If you feel it is appropriate for your business and audience, a sleeveless dress that shows shoulders can look vibrant. Also, try a few photos with a blazer over the dress. Keep in mind necklines. A lower neckline may end up cropped out of the photo. A scoop neckline should not be too deep.
Some businesses prefer that arms and shoulders do not show. Make sure to check with your company before your session.
